You're standing at the Blue Lagoon, Bláa Lónið in Icelandic, five kilometres from Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Have a look around. The lagoon sits in an old, moss-covered lava field, in front of Mount Þorbjörn. And then there's the water: a milky, pale blue. That colour comes from the silica in it.
