You're standing at Bolsover Castle, high on a hill in the north-east of Derbyshire. Look at the tower-like building on the edge of the slope. That's the Little Castle, the heart of the whole estate. It looks like a medieval fortress, but don't be fooled. It was built from 1612 as a pleasure house, made for enjoying life and impressing guests, not for defence. It never even had a dungeon.
