Zervynos in Varėnos rajonas

You're standing in Zervynos, a small wooden village deep inside Dzūkija National Park in southern Lithuania. Have a look around. Everything here is made of wood: the houses, the barns, the outbuildings. The farmhouses line up along a single main street, squeezed into a narrow strip between the Ūla River and the slope of the valley. That layout hasn't changed since the eighteenth century.
