Parco Archeologico di Morgantina in Aidone

You're standing in Morgantina, a vanished city in the heart of Sicily. Have a look around. You're on a long ridge, about two kilometres from end to end, called Serra Orlando. At its northeastern tip rises a second hill, the Cittadella. That's where the first people lived, from around 1000 BCE. Around 450 BCE the town moved over to this ridge, and it survived here until roughly 50 CE.
