You're standing among the remains of Sicyon, in ancient times one of the most powerful city-states in Greece. It lay in the northern Peloponnese, between Corinth and Achaea, on a low triangular plateau a few kilometres from the Gulf of Corinth. Between the plateau and the sea stretched a fertile plain full of olive groves and orchards.
