You're standing at Salina Turda, an old salt mine on the edge of Turda, in northwestern Romania. From up here there isn't much to see. The real story lies beneath your feet, deep inside the salt rock. Even so, this place draws huge crowds. Around 618,000 people visited in 2017. Back in 2013, Business Insider even listed it among the world's hidden gems that are worth the trek.
