Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard

You're standing at the Château de Menthon, about twelve kilometres south of Annecy. Take a look up at those stone towers. The castle sits on a rock two hundred metres high. From up there it watches over Lake Annecy, the Roc de Chère nature reserve and the village below. Does it remind you a little of a fairytale castle? That's no accident, and I'll get to why in a moment.
