You're standing on Trumpington Street, outside St Catharine's College. Students just call it Catz. Take a look at the layout. Most Cambridge colleges hide their courtyards behind walls and gatehouses. Not this one. The main court has only three sides and opens straight onto the street. Across Oxford and Cambridge combined, there are only six courts like this. It was laid out between 1675 and 1757. Plans to build a fourth side have come up again and again, but it has never happened.
