You're standing on the west coast of Papa Westray, one of the Orkney islands, at the Knap of Howar. In front of you are two low stone houses, side by side, almost on the beach. They're more than five thousand years old. This may well be the oldest surviving stone house in northern Europe, and it's older than the far better known Skara Brae on the Orkney Mainland.
