You're standing at the National Railway Museum in York, just a few minutes' walk from the station. This is the biggest railway museum in Britain. Have a look around. The museum comes in two parts, with Leeman Road running between them. On one side is the Great Hall, a former locomotive depot called York North, right beside the main line between London and Edinburgh. On the other side is Station Hall, a listed goods station from the 1870s. There's plenty of building work going on too: a new Central Hall will soon link the two halves together.
