You're standing at Alabanda, the remains of an ancient city in Caria, a few kilometres west of Çine. Start by taking in the landscape. The city sits in a saddle between two heights, a sheltered spot looking out both ways. Keep an eye on the stone, too. This area is known for its dark marble and for gemstones that look a lot like garnets.
