You're standing at Kõpu Lighthouse, on top of the highest hill on the island of Hiiumaa. The hill is called Tornimägi, Tower Hill, and it's 68 metres high. The tower adds roughly another 37 metres, so the light shines more than a hundred metres above the sea. That makes it the highest coastal light on the Baltic. Now look at its shape. It's not a slim round tower but a square block with four massive buttresses, one facing each point of the compass. It looks almost like a medieval fortress, and that's no coincidence.
