You're standing at Stari Most, the Old Bridge of Mostar. Look at that single stone arch, high above the green water of the Neretva. It's only four metres wide and just under thirty metres long. At its thinnest point the stone is less than eighty centimetres thick. The arch only starts well above the water, because at the end of winter the river can rise by several metres.
