You're standing at the Spannagel Cave, high in the Zillertal Alps above Hintertux. Have a look around. Just above you is the Spannagelhaus, a mountain hut at 2,531 metres, and the cave opens right underneath it. Both are named after Rudolf Spannagel, who led the Austrian Tourist Club in the early twentieth century. This is the highest large cave in Europe.
