You're standing at Soli, an ancient city on the coast of the Gulf of Morphou, near the village of Karavostasi. Back in the day, this was one of the ten little city-kingdoms that Cyprus was divided into. Assyrian royal inscriptions already mention Soli in the seventh century BC.
