You're standing at Glimmingehus, in the far south of Sweden, close to Simrishamn. Take a good look at this sturdy block of stone. It's considered the best preserved medieval stronghold in all of Scandinavia. When it went up, between 1499 and 1506, this region of Scania was still part of Denmark. The Danish knight and admiral Jens Holgersen Ulfstand had it built. His master builder was Adam van Düren, a North German craftsman who also worked on Lund Cathedral.
