Château de Fénelon in Sainte-Mondane

You're standing at the Château de Fénelon, high above the Dordogne, close to the little village of Sainte-Mondane. First, turn around and look south. The castle sits about a hundred metres above the river. From here you look out over the valleys of the Dordogne and the Bouriane, with farmland stretching beyond. No wonder someone wanted a fortress up here.
