You're standing on Gaiziņkalns, the highest point in Latvia. In German it's called Mesenberg. It rises in the Vidzeme Upland, a short way west of the town of Madona, and it reaches 312 metres above sea level. To be honest, it's not exactly a mountain. Even so, it has been turned into a ski area, with three slopes and several guesthouses.
