You're standing on Place Saint-Maurice in Vienne, at the foot of a flight of steps. Look up at the west front of the cathedral. Two bell towers, a big rose window and three portals in the ornate Flamboyant Gothic style. This is actually the youngest part of the church. Work on the facade ran from the fourteenth into the sixteenth century, and the final stone went in in 1529.
