You're standing at the remains of Calydon, an ancient Greek city in Aetolia, on the west bank of the river Evenus and some eleven kilometres from the sea. The ruins lie just north of the modern village of Evinochori. And here's something odd: deep beneath your feet runs a tunnel of the A5 motorway. It's called, fittingly, the Calydon Tunnel.
