You're standing at Kantara Castle, high in the Kyrenia Mountains in the north of Cyprus. It sits around 550 to 600 metres above sea level, surrounded by bare ridges of granite and sandstone. That same rock is what the castle is built from. It's the easternmost of three castles in these mountains. The other two are Saint Hilarion and Buffavento.
