You're standing at Bec Abbey, in a valley in Normandy, roughly halfway between Rouen and Bernay. The name comes from the little stream that runs nearby. Bec goes back to a Scandinavian word for brook. First, find the tower on the grounds. That's the Tour Saint-Nicolas, built in the fifteenth century. It's one of the few parts of the medieval monastery still largely standing.
