You're standing at Trosky Castle, the great landmark of the Bohemian Paradise. Look up at those two rocky peaks. They're ancient volcanic plugs of basalt, and each one carries a tower. The taller, about 57 metres above its surroundings, is called Panna, the Maiden. The lower one, 47 metres, is Baba, the Crone. And the name Trosky itself? It simply means ‘ruins’ or ‘debris’.
