You're standing on Heimplatz in Zurich, between two buildings that together make up the Kunsthaus, the biggest art museum in Switzerland by area. Start with the older one. It opened in 1910, designed by the architects Karl Moser and Robert Curjel. See the reliefs on the façade? Those are by Oskar Kiefer, Moser's longtime collaborator. The name was a deliberate choice, by the way. Not a museum, not a gallery, but a Kunsthaus, in the same spirit as a Swiss town's Rathaus and Schulhaus. A house for art, right in the middle of the city.
