You're standing at Sázava Monastery, about thirty kilometres southeast of Prague, on the bank of the river that shares its name. The little town around you actually grew up around this monastery. Start with that huge Gothic church. Notice anything odd? It was never finished. In the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries the monks planned a monumental basilica with three naves, but the work stalled. Those pillars have stood for centuries without the roof they were meant to carry. They're fragile, and restorers are still working to keep them standing.
