You're standing at the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsdalen, on the east side of Tromsø. Start with the shape. White triangles stepping down one after another, as if slabs of ice had been pushed up against each other. That's exactly the idea. Architect Jan Inge Hovig wanted the design to call to mind icebergs, the northern lights and the long polar night. Some also see a nod to Håja, a nearby island with two peaks.
