You're standing in Knidos, also called Cnidus, an ancient Greek city right at the tip of the Datça peninsula. The city faced the island of Kos. Take a look at the narrow neck of land. In ancient times the land on the far side was linked to the mainland by a causeway and a bridge. That created two harbours. The sturdy moles of the larger, southern harbour are still largely standing. You can also trace the city walls all the way round, best preserved around the acropolis.
