You're standing in Tripi, a small hilltop town in the northeast of Sicily. Beneath your feet, and at the foot of this hill, lay a much older city: Abacaenum. It wasn't founded by the Greeks, but by the Siculi, one of the island's ancient peoples. Still, its people loved Greek art and culture, which is why the city counts as part of Magna Graecia, the Greek world of southern Italy and Sicily.
