You're standing at Abritus, the remains of a Roman walled city in Razgrad. Today it's the town's Archaeological Park. Start with the walls. They were once three metres thick and twelve metres high. Two of the bastions have been rebuilt to their original height, so you can get a real sense of how imposing the whole thing must have looked. Altogether, thirty-five of these towers jutted out in front of the wall.
