Wernigerode Castle

You're standing at Wernigerode Castle, high on a slope above the town, on the edge of the Harz mountains. Take a good look at the towers, the pointed roofs and that mix of half-timbering and stone. Does it remind you of a fairy-tale castle? You're not wrong. In style it's a lot like Neuschwanstein in Bavaria. Yet the castle only got this look at the end of the nineteenth century.
