You're standing at Ktuts Monastery, on a tiny island in Lake Van, in eastern Turkey. In Turkish the island is called Çarpanak. Ktuts is Armenian, and it means beak. Have a look around: of what was once a whole monastery, only a church survives, along with its gavit, a kind of entrance hall. Everything else is gone.
