You're standing at Rosersberg Palace, one of the royal palaces of Sweden. It sits on the shore of Lake Mälaren, just outside Stockholm. Take a look at the main building. It looks calm and stately, but it has been through quite a makeover. When it was finished in 1638, it still had pointed Renaissance gables. It was built for Gabriel Bengtsson Oxenstierna, who named it after his mother. She came from the distinguished Tre Rosor family, the Three Roses. Hence the name Rosersberg.
