Brauron, temple of Artemis in Municipality of Markopoulo Mesogaias

You're standing at the sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron, on the east coast of Attica. In ancient times there was a small bay right here. It has silted up over the centuries, so the sea is now further away than it used to be. See the little white church right next to the temple remains? That's the chapel of Agios Georgios, from the fifteenth century. Beside it lie the foundations of a Doric temple to Artemis, about twenty metres long.
