Mamure Castle in Anamur

You're standing at Mamure Castle, six kilometres east of Anamur, right on the Mediterranean shore. Notice how close the walls come to the water. This is one of the best preserved medieval castles on this coast, and you can tell straight away. Try counting the towers. There are thirty-nine of them, linked by wide ramparts, with a moat running all the way around.
