You're standing at Dunrobin Castle, just outside Golspie, high above the sea. It's the seat of the Earls of Sutherland, and with 189 rooms it's the largest house in the north of Scotland. Take a look at those towers. With their pointed roofs and slender turrets, it looks more like a French fairytale château than a Scottish fortress. The pyramid-shaped roof over the entrance was inspired by the French architect Viollet-le-Duc. That tallest tower, with the entrance, rises about forty-one metres.
