You're standing at Eketorp, a ring-shaped fort out on the bare plain of Stora Alvaret, in the southeast of Öland. Take a look around. The land here is so flat that an enemy could come from any direction. That's probably why the builders chose a circle. No front, no back, equally strong all the way round.
