You're standing at Coca Castle, about forty-five kilometres north of Segovia. Notice anything unusual? Unlike most Spanish castles, this one isn't perched on a hilltop. It sits at the edge of a plain, overlooking a bend in the River Voltoya, close to where it joins the Eresma. To make up for the missing hill, it got a deep, wide moat.
