You're standing at the Historic Silver Mine of Tarnowskie Góry, in Upper Silesia in southern Poland. Have a look around. What you see up here is really just the tip of the iceberg. The real story lies beneath your feet, in a maze of tunnels that miners dug over four centuries. Altogether that's more than 150 kilometres of corridors and over twenty thousand shafts. Since 2017 the mine, together with its whole underground water management system, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
