Museum Weltkulturerbe Völklinger Hütte in Völklingen

You're standing at the Völklingen Ironworks, the Völklinger Hütte, on the banks of the Saar. Take a look up at that forest of steel. Blast furnaces, pipes, walkways and chimneys, and all of it still standing. The whole process of making iron happened right here, on one site. It's one of the only ironworks of its era that survived intact, and that's why UNESCO made it a World Heritage Site in 1994.
