Bač Fortress in Bac Municipality

You're standing at Bač Fortress, in the Vojvodina region of Serbia. It's the best preserved medieval fortress in the whole area. Have a look around. Everything is flat, as far as the eye can see. That explains the tall square tower. The keep rises about twenty meters. From up there, guards could watch traffic on the roads and on the river. Routes between Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean all crossed right here.
