Fort de Brégançon in Bormes-les-Mimosas

You're standing at the Fort de Brégançon, on a small island just off the coast of Bormes-les-Mimosas. Take a look up. The fortress sits about thirty-five metres above the sea. From up there, you could once keep an eye on every ship heading for Hyères and Toulon. No wonder people have held this spot for so long. Back in the sixth century BC, the Ligurians already had a fortified settlement here.
