You're standing at Raby Castle, a medieval castle near the village of Staindrop, set in a deer park of some two hundred acres. Start by taking in its shape. It's irregular, with nine towers around the edge. A moat once surrounded it, and the curtain wall rose about thirty feet straight out of the water. Along the top ran a walkway where guards kept watch.
