You're standing at Malbork Castle, once called Marienburg. Measured by land area, this is the largest castle in the world. Just look at all that red brick. There was hardly any natural stone in this region, so nearly everything was built from fired clay. The result is a Gothic fortress covering about twenty-one hectares, on the bank of the river Nogat.
