Monument Le Lion de Belfort

You're standing at the Lion of Belfort, a huge lion resting against the cliff below Belfort's castle. Take in the size of it. It's twenty-two meters long and eleven meters high, and it dominates the whole landscape around here. The whole thing is red sandstone. Each block was carved separately, then hauled up to the rock face and fitted together like a giant jigsaw.
