You're standing at Sant Pere de Rodes, an old Benedictine monastery high on the slopes of the Verdera mountain, about 520 metres above the sea. First, turn around. Down below is the bay of Llançà, just north of Cap de Creus. That view alone is worth the climb. Now look up towards the summit. Those ruins up there are the castle of Verdera, which once protected the monastery.
