Museum New castle in Banská Štiavnica

You're standing at Nový zámok, the New Castle of Banská Štiavnica. It sits on a hill just south of the town centre, about 630 metres above sea level, which makes it the highest point of the old town. Take a look at its shape. This isn't a fairytale castle. It's a tall, sturdy Renaissance building, six floors high, with four bastions. It was built for keeping watch, not for living in.
