You're standing at the Château de Lunéville, right in the old centre of this small town in Lorraine. Have a look around. Two wings frame a forecourt in front of the main building, just like a proper royal palace. That's no coincidence. Duke Leopold wasn't happy with his palace in Nancy, so between 1703 and 1723 he had this place rebuilt with Versailles as the model. People called it the Versailles of Lorraine. For architect Germain Boffrand, it became his masterpiece.
