You're standing at Chartres Cathedral, on a hill above the town. First, look at the two towers at the front. They don't match, and that's no mistake. One is a plain pyramid spire, a hundred and five metres tall, finished around 1160. The other rises to a hundred and thirteen metres and is far more ornate. It only got that spire between 1507 and 1513, after lightning destroyed the old one.
